Why is it grammatical and not grammarical?

The word grammar comes from the Old French gramaire, which translates to learning, and also from the Latin grammatica and the Greek grammatike tekhne.

I can't say for sure, but it seems like "grammatical" derives from the Latin and Greek origins, where "grammar" is closer to the Old French.
