The spider you're talking about is the Adelocosa anops, also called the Kaua'i Cave Wolf Spider. The most distinctive feature of wolf spiders are their eyes: two large eyes surrounded by six smaller eyes. This is why they're called "big-eyed" spiders.
However, the Adelocosa anops doesn't have eyes. These spiders live in caves and use special chemical-sensing organs to track prey. They can also withstand low oxygen environments, making them ideally suited to the volcanic caves of Kaua'i. However, this adaptation also means they can only be found in these caves which cover only about four square miles of land. Only thirty of the spiders have ever been counted at one time making them an endangered species.
So, the No-Eyed Big-Eyed Wolf Spider is in a group of spiders that has big eyes, but it doesn't have eyes itself because it doesn't need them.
